Google today announced several changes regarding the Android brand. The company breaks with names referring to various types of sweets and instead intends to simply number subsequent software editions. In addition, the graphic identification of the entire brand underwent a metamorphosis, which was modified for the first time since 2014.

Google has decided to break the tradition of naming subsequent versions of Android from sweets. According to the company, this type of sign was not clearly transparent and understandable for everyone. As an example, the letters L and R are given, which in some languages are not distinguished, and which can be found in the names of parts of the Android edition (e.g. Lollipop). New system users were also mentioned, for whom the whole system of markings is completely new, and the markings used previously did not say anything.

From now on it should be simple and legible, so instead of Android Q we will get Android 10. As we mentioned at the beginning, the changes also reached the graphic identification of the system. The green Android inscription has been abandoned, replacing it with black. What’s more, the logo also features the characteristic “head” of a robot that every fan of the most popular mobile operating system in the world knows. The change in color was to be dictated by the fact that in some cases it is difficult to read the green text. For this reason, Google has prepared a new set of colors to ensure adequate readability regardless of the situation.

Google has ensured that the new logo will be used in the next few weeks. We will definitely see them in the upcoming official update of Android 10.
