Firefox 66 is already available, by default it blocks the playback of all movies with audio
The Firefox 66 browser has already achieved stable status and is available for download. The most important novelty is the announced blocking of automatic playback of materials that have sound.
Firefox 66 does not block video playback with sound by default. This feature can be enabled in the access settings, and using the list of exceptions allow selected sites to automatically play material with sound. Thanks to this, no page will surprise us with a movie or a loud advertisement if we do not expect it. The sound will be turned on if the user interacts with the site.
This is not the only novelty in “Mozilla browser version 66”. By scrolling the page, you will notice that the content less “jumps”. Firefox supports the ability to anchor page elements while scrolling. In turn, by going to the new page: about: privatebrowsing, you can quickly launch a new private browsing window.
When using WebExtensions extensions, you can change their keyboard shortcuts using extension settings. Some file extension actions should be faster thanks to the new storage.local API support. To help solve problems with some security programs, Firefox 66 got a new card with information about the HTTPS certificate error and gives the name of the problematic certificate.
The Firefox 67 is in preparation. This version is to get protection against mining cryptocurrencies and downloading a digital “fingerprint” by websites.
