Augmented reality is expensive fun. HoloLens 2 goggles, mainly because of the price, are also unlikely to fall under the thatch. Their price, USD 3500 (about PLN 13.5 thousand), indicates that they are intended mainly for business.

After the announcement from the beginning of 2019, Microsoft finally introduced HoloLens 2 for sale. Goggles are already available in several countries around the world, including USA, France, Germany, Ireland, Great Britain and Australia. How are they different from the predecessor? First of all, the construction has changed. HoloLens 2 are lighter (566 g) and more comfortable than the original. Just after putting them on your head, you can immediately notice the next progress – field of view increased from 34 to 52 degrees. It still doesn't cover the entire surface of the glasses, but it's still a big improvement.

Another improvement is the addition of a more accurate gesture and eye control system. Now the goggles recognize each finger and interpret commands better, making them easier to use. HoloLens 2 support such gestures as tweaking and dragging objects, or zooming them with a pull edge. You can also use the holographic buttons located at the user's wrist. Unlike Oculus Rifta or HTC Vive VR goggles, HoloLens 2 do not use any controllers, which significantly increases the impression of being in a virtual world.

This would not be possible without the right components. Snapdragon 850, 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory are responsible for the performance of the goggles. And the recognition of gestures and objects deal with 4 visible light cameras, 2 infrared cameras and a depth sensor. Microsoft also did not forget about a few curiosities. One of them is Spatial Anchors, i.e. sharing holograms with other users. The second is streaming high quality holograms. A little worse news for people who have the first HoloLensy is the fact that applications from them will not work on the second generation. Developers will have to transport them. Microsoft also did not disclose the number of applications currently available on goggles, so it can be assumed that it is small. | allthingsblogging.com
