This year, Surface Pro 8 should debut on the market. If Microsoft decides to introduce a patent that has just been published, we can count on a really interesting, ecological device.

Surface Pro 8 has a chance to share the success of previous models. And solar power can be an additional incentive, given that the battery is a feature that often determines our purchase for mobile devices. Some ultrabooks can now work 24/7 on one charge, but it's still a drop in the ocean of needs. Therefore, it is not surprising that ideas are constantly being created to increase working time. One of them is working on Microsoft, which may implement it in the Surface Pro line.

The application was submitted in October 2018 and granted a few days ago, so there is a chance that it will appear in the new generation of devices. Although the patent does not say a word about Surface Pro, of course, based on the technical drawings, we can guess that it applies to this family of computers.

The patent describes the use of solar panels on the back of the device, i.e. the place that acts as a screen stand in Surface Pro. In this way, the panels would be placed at the most ergonomic angle to collect solar energy. If necessary, the user could of course adjust this angle. However, this is not all. The application describes the possibility of using various types of panels – also those that load under the influence of artificial lighting.

A very important feature of Microsoft technology is also the option of charging while using the device. It is also worth noting that the panels are not located directly on the laptop case, but on its case with a keyboard. Thus, people who would not care about such a solution will probably be able to buy a cheaper, ordinary version of Type Cover. Nothing prevents solar charging from reaching other manufacturer's laptops, e.g. Surface Go.

There are already many solar chargers on the market that we can charge e.g. smartphones or tablets. In extreme situations, when there is no sun in the sky, you can help yourself with a charger for … fire. However, Microsoft's idea is much more convenient to use and we hope that we will see it implemented soon. | allthingsblogging.com
